An Introduction from our Family Liaison Officer
The role of the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) within the school is to provide support, help and advice for parents and carers. My role is to support the families of our pupils to enable their children to thrive, be happy and achieve at school. I act as a link between our families and the school. Anything discussed between families and I will be treated with confidence and respect.
Now and again all families may experience difficulties and a bit overwhelmed and unable to cope with the strains and stresses of family and everyday life. I have a family so understand that family life can sometimes be challenging and that parents and carers sometimes need someone to talk to, support them or just point them in the right direction to get specialist advice and help.
As a FLO, I want to establish and foster good relationships with parents, carers and the children of the school. I am available to have an informal chat about things that are concerning you. These things can range from children’s friendship issues at school, behaviour and parenting support, family illness or loss, through to parental separation and Domestic Violence. I work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies for the benefit of our children and their families.
Another part of my role is ensuring children attend school regularly and on time, ready to learn. School attendance and punctuality are important factors for children to achieve their full potential in life. Sometimes there can be issues which impact on children’s attendance; I am here to help and support families when difficulties arise.
I have worked with KCC, Multi-agency teams and Community Safety Teams for many years. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but can often point in the direction of someone who may be able to help if I can’t. I work closely with all staff, many outside agencies and organisations to improve the opportunities for our children and their families.
I am contactable via the School Office or you can either ring and leave a message or text the Family Liaison Officer’s mobile phone on 07751 229785.
