Junior Road Safety Officer's (JRSO’s)
The Junior Road Safety (JRSO) programme gives pupils the opportunity to highlight road safety issues within our school. Each year there are four Junior Road Safety officers who are chosen from year 5. They are elected for a year before handing over to the next JRSO's.
In order to become a JRSO year 5 children can enter the yearly competition set up by the current JRSO's. The current JRSO's then judge the competition and choose 4 new JRSO's to hand over their responsibilities to.
The JRSO's task is to promote road safety issues by delivering assemblies, running road safety competitions and regularly updating their noticeboard. Each term there are different topics to promote such as Be Bright Be Seen, in-car safety and bike and scooter safety. The JRSO's work closely with a member of staff, as well as a member of the local council who is a road safety representative and they regularly meet each week.
