The Eco- Committee is a team that aims to promote Eco- schools work. The committee is represented by different year groups starting from year 3-6 so that there's a diverse community involved in the decision making.
The aims of the Eco- Committee are to ensure the school is aware of environmental issues and to help improve these issues around the school and community. Some of the topics the Eco- Committee focus on are litter, energy, water, healthy living, transport and the improving the school grounds. The Eco-Committee promotes these issues through regularly updating the Eco display board, conducting litter and energy surveys around the school, cleaning up the school pond area, running competitions and presenting in assemblies. They also actively try to involve the local community through holding events such as a 'green day' dress up day to raise money for a local Eco charity.
The Eco- Committee is chosen in year group classes and children can put themselves forward to be on the committee. A democratic election takes place and each year there are new year 3's who join to replace the year 6's that have moved onto another school. A member of staff supports the committee and they regularly meet each term to discuss and promote the Eco issues.
