Whole School Meals is an independent dinner contractor that provide our school with cooked meals daily.
The cost of a school dinner is £2.41 daily and payments can be made online via the Whole School Meal website.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are now entitled to a hot meal daily from September 2014.
(Although this provision has been called Universal Free School meals this is not to be confused with our Pupil Premium Free School Meals which is a separate funding.)
The whole school meals website also provides information about current menus, news and events.
If you are entitled to Statutory Free School Meals (ie. on Income support, Income Based Job seekers allowance, Child Tax Credit (without a working tax element)) please complete an online form when your child starts at The Downs CEP Primary School by following the link below or ask at the school office for a form.
This is a link to the NHS website that can help with ideas for healthy lunch box ideas.
From 1st January 2015 school’s across England are legally required to ensure milk is made available during the school day to all pupils who want it.
If your child claims Free School Meals or is a Pupil Premium child, they are eligible to receive this free of charge. Your child would receive 189 ml (one third of a pint).
We do understand that some children do not like milk or are intolerant to it, so we do require your permission. If you would like to take this offer up please contact the school office.
If your child is not entitled to Free School Meals or Pupil Premium funding, milk can be ordered and paid for via the Cool Milk website.
