Recovery tutoring

In October 2021, the government announced that they would be funding a scheme for schools to employ a tutor to support children with gaps in learning due to the Covid pandemic. 

They government identified a group of children based on a set of criteria that will be supported by the recovery tutor.

Mrs Underdown, a teacher that has worked for The Downs CEP School for many years, now supports children in this role. Children are given specific interventions to support their learning in class and Mrs Underdown works very closely with class teachers to support children and help them to make progress.

Mrs Underdown uses the school's SONAR assessment system to record progress in cooperation with the class teachers.
