Our Library
We are very fortunate here at The Downs to have our own school library. Every child in the school has a library slot each week when they can visit the library to change or renew their book.
KS1 children are allowed one book and we have a good selection of picture and story books. KS2 children are allowed two loans. This enables them to have a fiction book plus either a non fiction book or a story tape or CD.

KS2 children also have access to the library at morning break-time. This works on a rota system. They can read, work on the computers, play chess or do a jig-saw.
The Scholastic book club is run from the library and profits from this go towards new books for the school.
We also have a new online bookclub at MySchoolBookClub which gives us even more free books when people spend money in the club.

A half termly newsletter from the library goes out to every class. It lets the children know about new books, facts and figures about the library and up and coming competitions. It also lists the top ten books that have been taken out on loan. Our current top ten are shown in the list on the right.
Late Night Library also takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school until 4.30. 12 places are available per session, and these run in termly blocks.
Remember to return or renew your books every week!
